Eco-friendly Product Lineup

  • Eco-friendly SF6-Free GIS
    We are constantly striving to develop various types of eco-friendly Giss, starting with SF6-Free GIS, which was developed with entirely in-house technology for the first time in Korea.

    To start with, by substituting NOVEC gas for SF6(Sulfur Hexafluoride), of which the global warming potential(GWP) is 23,900 times greater than CO2, we have successfully reduced greenhouse gas emissions by staggering 99% and started to take proactive measures to reduce SF6 usage in developed countries.

    In April, 2021, we succeeded in developing 170kV 50kA 4000A GIS, the eco-friendly Gas Insulated switchgear(GIS), using Novec mixture gas, based on the long-accumulated technology of our own, for the first time in Korea.

    We are currently developing a 145kV GIS with Dry Air and Vacuum Interrupter, and we plan to respond to the market's demand for carbon neutrality by developing eco-friendly GIS with various voltages in the future.

  • ECO Transformer
    Through proactive technology development, HD Hyundai Electric has developed an eco-friendly transformer using eco-friendly insulating(vegetable/synthetic) oil that is excellent in flame retardancy, biodegradable, and non-toxic. We continue to deliver eco-friendly transformers to various customers who demand eco-friendly transformers which prevent danger of polluting the environment seriously in case of oil leakage.

    A high degree of stability and performance is guaranteed through core technologies, such as insulation design and cooling design, in addition to eco-friendly competitiveness. On top of that, DPRS(Dynamic Pressure Resistant System) technology can be applied along with those technologies. We will continue to make active efforts and invest in the development of eco-friendly transformers with an interest in a sustainable future.

  • Engine Mounted Generator
    In November, 2021, HD Hyundai Electric developed EMG(Engine Mounted Generator) for marine propulsion.

    This ground-breaking generator directly connected to marine propulsion engine needs less space when installed, allowing the space to be used more efficiently. When installing this leading eco-friendly product of ours, you can reduce fuel consumption of the entire marine propulsion system by about 2~3% and carbon emissions, by about 4~5%.

  • Permanent Magnet Shaft Generator
    HD Hyundai Electric developed the Korea's first-ever 2MW large-capacity permanent magnet type shaft generator in November, 2021.

    We succeeded, with our own technology, in domestically producing complete parts of the shaft generator, which had entirely depended on imported parts until then. By applying high-performance neodymium permanent magnet to the rotor, power generation efficiency can be improved by up to 3%. Higher power density than inductive deformities has been achieved through miniaturization and weight reduction of the product. This is a green environment product that can not only increase energy efficiency and reduce fuel cost at once by utilizing the rotational power of large propulsion engines for power generation, but also improve EEDI and proactively respond to a variety of environmental regulations by reducing carbon emissions by 3%.

  • Super Premium Efficiency IE4 LV Motor
    HD Hyundai Electric started to proactively respond to the possibility that developed countries will raise the mandatory use rate of IE4 low voltage motors. The EU’s regulation that changes its minimum efficiency from IE3 to IE4 will be in effect from July, 2023 and is expected to be applied to Korea around 2025~26.

    Low-voltage motors are typical energy-consuming devices which take up 54% of electric energy consumption in Korea. In case of raising the mandatory efficiency standards, there will be a dramatic change in the specifications of these motors from premium class(IE3) to super premium class(IE4) in order to cut greenhouse gas emissions by reducing electricity usage.

    Now that products capable of higher output and higher efficiency than existing electric motors are highly needed, we will make an effort to expand our eco-friendly product lineup through long-accumulated technology to respond to market demand and increase market share.

  • Dry-air ECO Switchgear
    HD Hyundai Electric in 2015 developed an eco-friendly switchgear with a global warming potential(GWP) of 1 or less, through the collaboration with Korean electric power corporation(KEPCO). This switchboard uses dry-air as an insulating medium instead of SF6, which is not subject to greenhouse gas regulations.

    We developed and delivered 25.8kV E-GIS in response to the demand for the expansion of the eco-friendly switchboard market, and finally in 2020, succeeded in exporting eco-friendly switchgears for the first time in Korea.

    We have developed source technologies for various eco-friendly insulating media including dry-air and are in preparation for commercialization.
