World Class Products

For a diverse, high quality of exports and expansion of export growth engines for the future, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy and the Korea Productivity Center have selected World Class Products of korea every year since 2001. The products are divided into Current World Class Products of Korea (products included in the world's 5th largest market share, with annual sales of over 50 million dollars, or those with annual exports of over 5 million dollars) and Next-generation World Class of Korea Products (products possessing great potential of being included in the world's 5th largest market share.).

Shunt Reactor above 345kV

  • To prevent the Ferranti effect caused by capacitive charging--an increase in voltage occurring at the receiving end of a long transmission line, above the voltage at the sending end--a shunt reactor is installed in the transmission line or on land.
  • An ultra-high voltage electrical device to improve transmission efficiency and system stability by supplying inductive reactive power for the transmission line.

Flameproof Motor

  • An explosion-proof industrial motor that can be safely used in regions with explosion risks. This industrial motor is designed so that its enclosure can endure explosion and stop flames from leaking through the assembly area or the opening of the enclosure when explosions occur inside the motor.

145kV Gas Insulated Switchgear

  • The combination of many devices such as a circuit breaker, a disconnector, measuring/control devices, a connecting bus-bar, a converter, and a lightning arrester used to open/close, convert, and protect electric circuits for safe power transmission and distribution
  • 145kV GIS not used in Korea but produced only for exports

  • Three phase low- and high-voltage generators used as main source of energy in ships driven by a diesel engine (including a gas engine) or a turbine
  • Larger than 500kW, and mainly used for large merchant ships
