Quality Management for Customer Satisfaction

In June 1990, HD Hyundai Electric acquired ISO 9001 certification from QMI, a Canadian quality assurance organization, and has been playing a leading role in quality management in Korea. We are continuously conducting management activities and training to secure the reliability of our quality management system. In addition, through various tests and evaluations conducted by the Reliability Center, the quality of materials/parts is maintained, and the reliability of the final product is secured.

HD Hyundai Electric's quality management system reflects laws and regulations, international standards, and the needs of the market. By acquiring ISO 9001, an international standard for quality management systems, and KEPIC, a nuclear quality assurance system, and maintaining these certifications, we are making continuous efforts to achieve customer satisfaction by acquiring product certifications such as pressure resistance (domestic/overseas), ship class, and KS certification for each of our other products.

Implementation of Quality Training

Quality education provided for 156 people in 2021

In 2021, 156 HD Hyundai Electric employees and subcontractors were provided with quality training for the purpose of producing quality products that satisfy customers. In order to secure a stable level of quality, HD Hyundai Electric will continue to develop training courses and nurture quality professionals of an excellent caliber.

Product and Service Safety Policy

Provision of manual when products are shipped

We provide product manuals at the time of shipment in order to ensure safety while use our products and services in the field and to ensure the proper implementation of our products. In particular, regarding the major causes of climate change (such as SF6 gas for insulation), we are sparing no efforts to protect customer assets and prevent environmental pollution by providing detailed information such as the degree of environmental impact, handling precautions, and disposal methods.

Operation of Reliability Center

Conducts more than 300 product technology-related tests per year and strengthens internationally recognized testing and certification systems such as KOLAS AND UL CTF

The Reliability Center is playing a pivotal role in improving product quality and reliability by conducting a total of 330 tests in 2020. We plan to secure reliability evaluation technology for eco-friendly products and to establish a certification system through collaboration with external research institutes in 2021. In addition, by expanding the scope of Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme (KOLAS) accreditation, we plan to continuously strengthen the systems of internationally accredited testing institutions and add KOLAS accreditation for high-efficiency low-voltage motor products.

Creating a Safe Working Environment for Employees

HD Hyundai Electric considers safe and healthy working environments through joint participation of labor and management as an important core value that the company must protect. We are developing a safety and health management system to prevent accidents in advance based on the basics and principles.

Operation of Safety and Health Management System

We established a health and safety management system that meets the global standards by acquiring ISO 45001 international certification in March 2020. By cultivating ISO internal auditors within the company, each department closely reviews the previous year's performance and the objectives for the current year through self-examination, and improves on the results derived from the detection of nonconformities.

Occupational Safety and Health Committee

The Occupational Safety and Health Committee, which consists of 6 members each from labor and management, is convened on a quarterly basis to identify and manage health and safety risks in advance.

Implementation of Safety and Health Training

We systematically conduct statutory compulsory education by job type for employees entering the company and special safety training for high-risk work groups in order to internalize health and safety awareness, prevent safety accidents in advance, and eliminate risks of violating the Occupational Safety and Health Act.

Strengthening of On-site Inspection

We prevent safety accidents by strengthening on-site inspections and providing 1:1 training so that violators of safety rules can recognize the associated risks. We regularly check the status of follow-up management in areas where industrial accidents or minor accidents occur to prevent similar accidents from reoccurring. We monitor the implementation of safety measures according to standard work instructions and the results of hazardous risk assessment.

COVID-19 Response

We prepare and promote in-house quarantine guidelines that are more stringent than the government guidelines in order to prevent infection and spread of COVID-19. We actively respond by strengthening internal access procedures, implementing special disinfection procedures, providing masks, hand sanitizer, and thermometers, and providing emergency medical kits for overseas business travelers.

Obesity Management

We plan and operate an obesity prevention program including body composition analysis and walking exercise to lower the obesity rate, which contributes to the major causes of cerebrovascular disease such as high blood pressure, dyslipidemia, and diabetes.

Occupational Disease Management

We conduct a hearing preservation program for employees engaged in loud processes identified as a result of measuring the working environment. In order to prevent musculoskeletal diseases, we conduct hazardous factor investigations, work environment improvement, and medical management.

Chemical Substance Management

We conduct a hearing preservation program for employees engaged in loud processes identified as a result of measuring the working environment. Substances identified as hazardous chemicals are blocked at the warehousing stage, such as by finding alternatives or adjusting their content.

It is our aim to establish a healthy corporate ecosystem in which we can all grow together by establishing fair trade practices and providing support to our suppliers in order to strengthen their competitiveness.

Operation of an Integrated Evaluation System for Partner Companies

We have introduced a system for business partners to evaluate ESG factors such as exploitation of child labor, non-compliance with environmental standards, and emission of pollutants. According to the results of evaluation, we manage the supply chain by providing incentives to excellent suppliers and suspending transactions with non-compliant suppliers.

Operation of Partner Company Participation System

We hold a New Year's party, business status briefing sessions, and send e-mail notifications on important issues, and we are implementing a system in which a portion of our profits are returned to our suppliers where profits are generated from improvements derived from ideas presented by them. Moving forward, we plan to focus on establishing a culture of rational communication and paving the way for win-win growth.

Operation of Financial Support Pograms for Business Partners

We provide financial and non-financial guarantees totaling KRW 19.5 billion to our partners through a treaty with the Credit Guarantee Fund, and we have set up a 20 billion won ‘Shared Growth Fund’ with two commercial banks, namely, IBK and Shinhan Bank, for the purpose of providing financial support to our partners. Based on this, we will continue to build a win-win model for financial support that enables our partners to grow together with us.

Promoting a Multi-network System for Managing Partner Companies

We are aiming to establish a multi-network system by 2022 for comprehensively managing not only our primary suppliers, but also our secondary and tertiary suppliers.

We strive to prevent violations of laws and regulations by incorporating regulatory action standards in our material procurement system in accordance with a wide range of enacted/amended regulations such as eco-friendly regulations.

HD Hyundai Electric operates a 'Participation and Communication Channel' to listen to the difficulties and suggestions of stakeholders doing business with HD Hyundai Electric to improve business relations and help mediate disputes that may arise between each stakeholder.
